Citrus scents, also known as esperidati, are characterised by refreshing and lively mediterranean notes. The essential oils that are the basic ingredient of citrus fragrances are extracted from the zest of fruits such as bergamot, lemon, tangerine, orange and grapefruit. The word esperidato derives from Hesperides, the Greek nymphs who tend a blissful garden where golden apples grow. According to mythology, the fruits represent the promise of eternal youth.
